Privacy

Indmill recognise that your privacy is very important to you and that it is your right to control your personal information. Providing personal information is an act of trust and we take that trust seriously.

Personal Information

We require customers and uploading artists to provide us with a valid email address, used for both correspondence and as a log-in to the website. The information you provide is also used to notify you of changes or updates to the website and correspondence regarding your account. We request that artists supply us with their name, address, bank details and VAT registration information (number and date of registration, if applicable) for use in processing monthly payments. We take specific steps to protect the privacy of children, if an artist is below the legal age of consent in their log-in country, by making reasonable efforts to ensure that a parent has authorised the collection of the child’s personal data. Indmill will NEVER disclose, sell or rent your personal data, including your email address, to any third party unless we are required to do so by law.

Communication from Indmill

We will only communicate directly by email to keep our users informed about the operation of our website and, from time to time, to send e-mails and announcements to the email address that you have provided to us upon registration. We will also email you if an attempt is made to change your personal details in order to verify that such changes have been sanctioned by you.

Payment Information

If you pay Indmill for downloads, gifts or to make a donation to charity, your payment information will only be used to check that it is a valid method of payment and to process your payment. If a customer wishes to do so, they can store their credit card details with us in encrypted form for use at a later date to facilitate future payments (we will not store the three digit CCV or CVV2 security code from the back of your card). You can remove any such stored payment details by notifying us at service@indmill.com.

Your Rights

If you are a registered user, you have certain rights under the 1998 Data Protection Act. Should you wish to exercise that right, find out what personal information we hold about you on our database or if you have any questions concerning the Indmill privacy policy, please write to: privacy@indmill.com. There is no charge although we may require proof of your identity before we disclose any confidential information.

Cookies

We use “cookies” (small text files containing information about your Indmill web use sent from Indmill to your browser and stored on your computer) as part of our normal business procedure to enhance the user experience and to track patterns of behaviour of visitors to the Indmill website. A good example of this is the Indmill website recognising you when you return after a previous log-on.

Other Data we Capture

To monitor our technology and to report back to artists, music collecting agencies and charities, we capture other data such as downloads, purchases and charitable donations. For technical administration of the website we also collect log-in date and time, users’ IP addresses and session IDs.

Security

We use SSL (the HTTPS before our web address and padlock on your browser window) — a secure transmission method — to send and receive sensitive user information such as credit card and bank details, email addresses and passwords over the internet. We have also implemented security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal data we hold from unauthorised access and modification, improper use or disclosure, unlawful destruction or accidental loss. While we make every effort to ensure that your information is safe, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.
