In the summer of 2008,three men had an idea:to form an experimental trio minus the frustration and embarrassment of the ‘live jam’. This was achieved through the use of an old tape deck being overloaded by a guitar amp,strings being ‘hit’ and the resultant sounds being captured directly onto C90 tape by one of the groups members, Next came a tape exchange at a local pub,whereby the tape ‘baton’ was discreetly passed to another member.He concocted drumless,‘noise’ tracks using the source material and a computer. Following this procedure,the third member of the group recorded bass drones onto another blank audiotape,these tape loops were then cut,paste and overdubbed together,creating the four finalised tracks on the first release: the White-Out EP. This was the end of the beginning for Alt.
